The drawing depicts a generic network architecture of a 4G mobile hotspot network with SIP VoIP enabled. The SIP VoIP 4G mobile hotspot network consists of the following logical components: 
    • 4G access point: bridging point of the traffic between a Wi-Fi network and the 4G network.
    • Wi-Fi access point:  providing network access to the Wi-Fi enabled devices such as the SIP phones or SIPsocial, and forming IP / Wi-Fi local wireless network to transport local traffic.
    • SIP phones and SIPsocial are Wi-Fi enabled devices. They are end-user Wi-Fi nodes. They connect to the Wi-Fi access points to have their packets transported from/to the 4G access point.

LTE 4G Hotspot Mesh Network


In a neighborhood network as shown in the above diagram, the nodes at mesh access points collaboratively relay packets.  They extend the reach of a LTE 4G hotspot, providing Internet connectivity to the SIP phones in the neighborhood and backhauling the traffic created by the VoIP calls out to the Internet.   

SIP phones connect to accessible access points, which might in turn send voice calls directly to the Internet or send them through another access point if the Internet connectivity isn't available.  The intermediate mesh access points are shown in the diagram. 

In a Wi-Fi mesh network as shown above, each mesh node may connect to several neighboring nodes and on to a 4G Internet access node (LTE NAT, or WiMAX NAT ). The Internet access node aggregates the mesh network traffic and send it on to the Internet. If the mesh access node has more than one route to an Internet access node, mesh network is reliable and capable of supporting SIP VoIP.

The SIP phones of the LTE 4G hotspot network, as shown above, can connect with SIP phones of other SIP Networks that are connected to the Internet.  Data generated by the SIP phones connecting to the LTE 4G hotspot  are forwarded or uploaded by the LTE NAT to the IP / LTE network, which sends them to another LTE 4G hotspot or other SIP Networks on the Internet.
